3-port PoE switch 10/100Mbps, extender

APT-3-11 is an PoE network switch working as an extender (repeater) of LAN and PoE power. It is most commonly used in situations where several network devices (e.g. several IP cameras) need to be run on a single UTP cable, or where an additional network branch is required.

The device allows us to power up to 2 PoE receivers using a single UTP cable. In situations where we do not have the possibility to supply a new cable, or where supplying a new cable would be expensive, the APT-3-11 allows us to use the existing cabling.

The APT-3-11 can act as a LAN + PoE extender in situations where the distance between devices exceeds 100m. If it is possible to split the cable into sections under 100m of UTP cable, it allows us to extend the range of the LAN without the need for additional power supply, while maintaining full 100Mbps throughput.

The built-in LR150 (Long Range 150m) function allows all ports to operate stably up to 150m of UTP at 100Mbps with PoE power. This will enable the installation of cameras without the use of an additional intermediate extender.

Basic applications:

• as a splitter for 2 PoE receivers (IP cameras) powered from a single UTP cable, e.g. installation of additional cameras in place of existing cameras without changing the cabling
• in cascade connection (series) for connecting several IP PoE devices at distances exceeding 100m UTP

APT-3-11 is designed to work with any network devices, IP cameras and others powered by PoE 802.3af/at.

The APT (Atte Power Tree) series provides compatibility with IEEE 802.3af/at standards both as PoE receivers and on all output ports. When a device is connected to port 2 or 3, the receiver is identified and, if it is a PoE-powered device, power is switched on at the port.

• small size of the device enables installation in small spaces, e.g. in a camera base
• low power consumption of the device (< 0.3W)
• easy and quick start-up without configuring parameters
• wide operating temperature range

The device has a protection level of IP20, in order to ensure protection against the influence of atmospheric agents and condensation, a suitable housing is required. Adequate space must also be provided for adequate air circulation and for the provision of spare cables, taking into account the bending radius recommended by the manufacturer.

If the device will be used in a small space it is possible to break out the mounting part of the cradle in order to reduce the dimensions of the module.

APT-3-11 is equipped with a universal mounting base, which allows mounting in several ways:

• using the mounting studs on the 10.8mm grid, which is used in all ABOX enclosures
• with the use of mounting studs for RACK 19" and RACK 10" adapters
• by screwing through the additional holes to any flat surface
• using additional adapter ADD-TH35 it is possible to mount the module on the TH35 rail (DIN)

The total power consumed by the cameras (PoE receivers) connected to the extender must not exceed the power budget offered by the switch powering the entire line:

• for 802.3af standard it is approximately 13W available on the extender
• for 802.3at standard it is approximately 25W available on the extender

Consider IR illuminators - they turn on at night, increasing power consumption significantly.

Also consider the loss in the power cable - this depends on its cross-section, length and the voltage value on the PoE line.

When 1000Mbps throughput is required, we recommend using the APT-3-50 or APT-5-50 extender.
